The history of baseballBaseball in Kazakhstan
Shymkent Federation of Baseball and Softball was established by rendering assistance of volunteers from Peace Corps (USA) in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, in 1997. It is non-governmental organization. Its main purpose was to develop baseball as a sport game in Shymkent and South-Kazakhstan Region. The pioneers of the Shymkent Federation of Baseball and Softball were: Bakhytzhan Abakanov, Karina Kaprielova, Atabek Irismetov, such Peace Corps Volunteers as Brian Rendal, Elise Lobue, Patrik Jonathan Bekker and Aaron Taunsend.
In summer 1998 the best team of the Federation "ALL STARS" participated in the baseball championship between Shymkent and Almaty teams.
In 2004 the National Federation of Baseball and Softball was founded.
